The vision of the Valuable to Jesus campaign (VTJ) is to see Jesus Christ bringing an end to sexual abuse, prostitution and pornography through His Church and in His name by focussed prayer and compelled action.

Valuable to Jesus school presentations

The face of the campaign is the VTJ six-point interactive and age sensitive school presentation, which mainly gets presented by local Christians, after the Church has been mobilised and the community awareness has been matured.

The hand knitted dolls

After the presentation every primary school child receives a doll and every high school child a heart, knitted and made by Christians who prayed for the receiving child while they were making the doll/heart.

Our history

Since the 1980s Straatwerk has had the privilege of reaching out to women involved in prostitution in a focussed way. For a season (since 2000, for about 6 years) we also had the opportunity to actively reach the children of the women through child-focussed home visits.

During these years we grew in understanding that a shocking number of children get abused sexually and innocently get caught up in the web of prostitution. Furthermore, we all get exposed to or are made aware of a flood wave of pornography and more information, further underlining the reality of this intolerable situation. We believe that it is time to come together, all over South Africa and the rest of the world, in abolishing these atrocities. It is therefore a huge privilege to coordinate this campaign!

Our mission

The heart of the campaign is a mobilised Church respecting the Lord’s heart in this regard, standing up against these atrocities and developing community awareness. There needs to be a circle in which our children can live safely. (The circle is not absent, but needs to grow in size, unity and enthusiasm.)

A campaign standing against something is actually standing for another reality! VTJ stands for the fact that an abundant life and love is possible in Jesus Christ, for everyone who has experienced sexual abuse and addiction.
